Scorpions formed in Hanover, Germany in 1965 by guitarist Rudolf Schenker (Michael Schenker also says he con-founded the band). Since the band's inception, its musical style has ranged from hard rock, heavy metal and glam metal to soft rock.

The lineup from 1978 to 1992 was the most successful incarnation of the group, and included Klaus Meine (vocals), Rudolf Schenker (rhythm guitar), Matthias Jabs (lead guitar), Francis Buchholz (bass), and Herman Rarebell (drums). The band's only continuous member has been Schenker, although Meine has appeared on all of Scorpions' studio albums. Wikipedia

The Scorpions' fans picked The Zoo as their all time favorite song.
Although the song was released as a single in 1980, it commercially underperformed with limited chart success, peaking at #75 in the UK. Schenker wrote much of the music during the band's first tour of the United States in 1979. When Meine first heard Schenker's riff, it reminded him of the band's earlier visit to a street in New York City humorously referred to as a "zoo" Wikipedia
